New Delhi: King Charles III recently took over as the monarch after his mother Queen Elizabeth II passed away earlier this month at the age of 96. In a recent report, the 73-year-old King’s quirks came to light – from him carrying his toilet seat on every tour to using velvet toilet paper to being extra particular about how he likes the perfect egg. But the one thing that his followers know for sure is how particular the king is about his diet.
Turns out, King Charles III has taken after his parents – Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip – in terms of his eating habits. Firstly, the king eats everything in season and organic. And when it comes to the monarch’s meals, read on to what is served to him from breakfast to dinner.
  1. Breakfast: King Charles III stars his day with a healthy and heavy breakfast – fresh fruit, muesli, whole-grains mixed with seed, fruit juice or tea. The King reportedly loves plums light-poached in juice with muesli. He is also known to carry a breakfast box around which generally contains muesli, honey and anything special that he is particular about.
  2. Lunch: Reports suggest that King Charles III does not eat lunch and he started to follow this habit since he turned 70. Alternatively, he drinks his favourite Darjeeling tea all day with milk and honey.
  3. Evening snack: King Charles III did not eat eggs for breakfast – and mostly they were a part of his diet at a later hour in the day – sometime around 5.30 when he sits for tea. Sometimes it could be accompanied by crumpets. But the King is said to be extra particular about how he likes boiled eggs – he reportedly has the kitchen staff prepare seven of those and then choose the best 4-minute eggs.
  4. Dinner: What the King does not eat during the day constitutes dinner. This includes wild mushroom risotto with seared lamb.

All-in-all, King Charles III is known to eat everything organic and healthy – his meals are a the perfect combination of fibre, proteins, healthy fats, antioxidants and carbohydrates that help keep him going even at 73.
