Organic food and farming – The Irish Times

Sir, – Producing or consuming organic food is about a personal choice. If you believe in it, then you should, of course, follow your conviction if you can afford to do so. But how refreshing it is to read the viewpoint of William Reville, who debunks a lot of the myths we are increasingly subjected to about organic food and farming (“The big problem with organic farming is it cannot produce enough food to feed the world’s population”, Science, September 1st).

How I wish our policymakers in Dublin and Brussels would listen before European agriculture becomes one very large rewilded theme park and heavily dependent on the rest of the world for our food needs. – Yours, etc,

GERALD POTTERTON,

Kildalkey,

Co Meath.
